SECP Ethics Code
Certified coaches commit to the following principles. The code is concise by design and focuses on integrity in executive coaching practice.
Core Commitments
- Client interest first. Act in the best interest of the coaching client and the sponsoring organization when one exists.
- Confidentiality. Maintain confidentiality of coaching conversations except where disclosure is required by law or agreed with the client.
- Competence & honesty. Represent experience and capabilities accurately. Do not claim outcomes that cannot be supported.
- Conflicts of interest. Disclose potential conflicts and avoid dual relationships that impair objectivity.
- Professional boundaries. Maintain clear boundaries between coaching and other professional roles (consulting, therapy, etc.).
- Accountability. Respond to legitimate inquiries about practice and participate in any required review process in good faith.
Violation of the Ethics Code may result in suspension or revocation of the SECP credential and removal from the public directory.
